Web service documentation

This documentation relates to the Address Layer 2 web services from Postcode Anywhere. These are available through SOAP and more traditional XML based services. To find out more about each method, click on the method name.

The web services provide SOAP, XML and CSV over HTTP access to the services. The SOAP services can be consumed by any client.

Web Service Description
AddressPoint Interactive RetrieveByAddress v1.00 Returns the best AddressPoint record matching the specified address. If multiple records are found with the same rank, they are all listed. The address lines should be separated by commas.
AL2Anywhere Batch Cleanse v1.00 Finds the best match for an address in AL2.
AL2Anywhere Batch Geocode v1.00 Geocodes addresses against in AL2.
AL2Anywhere Batch RetrieveByIds v1.00 Returns all property details for a batch of Ids.
AL2Anywhere Interactive Find v1.00 Lists AL2 records matching the specified search term. This general search method combines postcode, street + town, TOID and OSAPR searches.
AL2Anywhere Interactive Find v1.10 Lists AL2 records matching the specified search term. This general search method combines postcode, street + town, TOID and OSAPR searches.
Supports searching of Welsh and aliased addresses. Introduces New ID field and new place descriptors.
AL2Anywhere Interactive FindByAddress v1.00 Lists up to the best AL2 record matching the specified address. If multiple records are found with the same rank, they are all listed. The address lines should be separated by commas.
AL2Anywhere Interactive FindByCoordinates v1.00 Lists AL2 records within the specified geographic extent. Useful for displaying data on a map or integration with GIS systems.
AL2Anywhere Interactive FindByCoordinates v1.10 Lists AL2 records within the specified geographic extent. Useful for displaying data on a map or integration with GIS systems.
Supports searching of Welsh and aliased addresses. Introduces New ID field and new place descriptors.
AL2Anywhere Interactive FindByPoint v1.00 Locates AL2 records nearest to a specific location. Provides reverse geocoding for AL2 records. Note: the search is limited to 10km box around the centre-point.

AL2Anywhere Interactive RetrieveByTOID v1.00 Returns all property details linked to the TOID (Topographical Object ID).
AL2Anywhere Interactive RetrieveByUdprn v1.00 Returns all property details linked to the Royal Mail UDPRN.
AL2Anywhere Maps RetrieveByCoordinates v1.00 Returns a map given latitude and longitude. The map is a byte encoded image and should be displayed using the render end point. Use with AL2.
